Akebia supports investigator-sponsored research

Akebia recognizes that Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) has the potential to improve the treatment of disease, patient outcomes, and the quality of healthcare. Support is awarded based on the scientific merit of each submitted proposal. The ISR program is offered to academic and community-based scientists interested in conducting their own research. The research must be intended to contribute knowledge to the medical community. In general, Investigator-Sponsored studies are smaller in scale than Phase 4 trials and are “proof of concept” or “exploratory” in nature. Akebia may provide funding and other forms of support, such as clinical trial materials. The budget must be reasonable and appropriate for the proposed study.

Submit an Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) Proposal:

How to Apply
1. Download and complete the Concept Form.
2. Email the completed Concept Form along with any supporting documentation, including the Physician’s Curriculum Vitae, medical license or equivalent, Investigator Qualification Form, and W9 to
isrgrants@akebia.com.

Additional Details
Proposals are reviewed on a regular basis. Akebia strives to provide a decision via email within 6-8 weeks of initial submission. A committee will review proposals based on numerous criteria including scientific merit, alignment with policies and objectives, and compliance with all applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration or local equivalent and federal healthcare program requirements.
