Global Medical Education Support

Akebia Therapeutics, Inc. (Akebia) supports high-quality, balanced and scientifically rigorous Medical Education, including accredited and non-accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and/or materials. Programs and/or materials must be free from commercial influence or bias, and conducted in accordance with the local industry codes, e.g., PhRMA Code, ACCME guidelines, FDA or local health authority requirements, and all other applicable laws and guidance.

Requests for funding of Medical Education support should be submitted at least 60 days in advance of program or event. Upon a review of the Medical Grant Review Committee, you will be informed of the decision. Please note that not all requests can be honored.

  1. Download and complete the Akebia Global Medical Education Grant Request application
  2. Email the following to grants@akebia.com:
  • Completed Akebia Global Medical Education Grant Request application
  • Evidence of non-profit or tax-exempt status
    • U.S. Applicants: IRS tax determination letter or Form 990
    • Non-US Applicants: government issued document from the local tax authority confirming non-profit/charity status
  • Detailed, line-item budget (note: Akebia funds cannot be used to provide meals)
  • W-9 (U.S. Applicants)
  • W-8 (Non-U.S. Applicants)
  • Current medical education accreditation certificate, if applicable
  • Additional supporting documents (e.g. letter of request, detailed program description, needs assessment, program agenda, and evaluation/outcomes plan)

2. Email the completed concept form along with any supporting documentation as PDFs either to your local medical science liaison (MSL) or to isr@keryx.com.

Additional Details:

Concept proposals are reviewed on a monthly basis and Keryx will strive to provide a decision via email within 6-8 weeks of initial submission. The ISR review committee evaluates all proposals based on numerous criteria including scientific merit, alignment with Keryx corporate policies and objectives, and compliance with any applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration or federal healthcare program requirements.

The submission process for Investigator Sponsored Research is a two-step process involving a preliminary concept proposal submission and review. If approved, a more detailed protocol and budget submission will be required.
